In vitro fertilization is the simplest process of artificial insemination, where the sperm is put carefully into the eggs to produce pregnancy.
At least 5% of infertile couples use IVF( in vitro fertilization) treatments, which have been used since 1981 in women that are unable to get pregnant for different reasons, so it is a great alternative in couples who want to have babies and haven't been able to.
Most women under 35 without a husband or male factor using IVF have a 25% possibility of conceiving and having a baby, because they have economic resources to look after him, although they don't want to have a partner.
Another technique in vitro fertilization is ICSI(Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) using a manipulation of eggs using a microscope to inject a single sperm into them. The fertilized eggs can be returned to the uterus and the pregnancy can develop normally.
In vitro fertilization has reduced the number of tubal surgeries by 50% since it was discovered, IVF was sucessfully used for the first time in The U.S.A in 1981 and since then more than 45.000 babies have been born as a result of this insemination method. Many women with specific problems such as fallopian tube damage, endometriosis or coupleswho have low sperm count or poor quality sperm, find hope in these fertilization techniques.
Eventhough, finding a solution to some problems, there are some aspects that people have to consider before using IVF such as an expensive cost of the process, multiple pregnancies or drugs treatment effects.
Nowadays IVF is being used for infertile couples, single women and medically it is a good alternative when womwn have problems in their reproductive system, although there is a risk to have a multiple pregnancies or the have to spend a lot of money using whatever tertilization techniques.
